I never contemplated writing my life story – it just didn’t occur to me. But then my son asked me if I would share whatever memories I had about my grandparents and parents and all the stories I had about growing up so that his son would be able to read about his ancestors “back in the old days” when he is older.

I was a little bit self conscious about it but decided what the heck – I’d give it a go. I dug out old photographs and used the questions Everyday Biographies provided to jog my memory and before I knew it the memories came flooding back to me.

The telephone calls were really just friendly conversations where I talked away about everything that I could remember. I couldn’t believe it when it all came back as a professional book. I was lost for words.

I'm delighted with the book and my family seemed to enjoy reading it. After reading the first chapter my son said to me that it was as if I was speaking to him. My ten year old grandson visited me and he loved looking at the old photos of his great-great-great-grandparents and hearing the stories about them. I think it brought the old photos to life for him.

Creating the book was easier than I imagined - the memory jogger questions I received made it easy to recall the stories I wanted to put in the book and the telephone interviews were relaxed and happened when it suited me.
